Getting to Kaleider Studios
We’re very welcoming of bikes. But we don’t have a bike-rack. The nearest is Devon Wildlife Trust, marked on the google map.
There are a wide range of buses which can be found just a 2 minute walk away from Kaleider on Fore street. Stagecoach bus timetables can be found by following this link.
We are a
20 minute walk from Exeter St Davids Station (Exeter’s mainline station)
10 minute walk from Exeter St Thomas Station
12 minute walk from Exeter Central
The nearest blue badge parking is 40m up hill from Kaleider on Preston Street. The nearest parking is a pay & display car park located on Smythen Street, approximately 140m uphill from Kaleider, this car park is free if a Blue Badge is displayed. Alternatively the Cathedral and Quay car park is approximately 500m downhill from Kaleider.
The nearest level access drop off point is on West Street/Lower Rackclose lane, which then proceeds to a 15-degree slope leading up to the Kaleider entrance on Preston street.
The events space, temporarily our co-work space.
The workspaces on the ground floor are accessible without using steps.
There is a ground floor level-access toilet (1900mm deep – 1600mm wide) with a baby change table. There are 2 more toilets in the basement, accessible by a short run of stairs.
The upper two floors are accessed by stairs.
Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome.
When you come to the entrance, there is a small grey door within the larger door. Please just push and come in. There’s a little step over the door frame on your way in. Do steps make the doorway inaccessible for you? If so, do let us know and we’ll make sure the entrance has level access.
Kaleider Studios is at 45 Preston Street, in the West Quarter of Exeter, UK. It has been home to artists for four decades.
The building is a 19C warehouse. This means that it is beautiful and quirky. It also means floors are sometimes uneven or sloping. Please be aware of this when visiting.
45 Preston Street was the home of the now closed contemporary art gallery Spacex for 40 years and hosted artist studios in its upper 2 floors.
Kaleider is working with the landlords to bring the building back into a useable state. We plan to have the building fully open by March 2019.
If you have any questions or access needs you’d like to discuss before your visit please do not hesitate to get in touch with Studio Coordinator Daina Leigh by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone: 01392 437750
We look forward to seeing you!
Kaleider’s staff team is currently learning level 1 British Sign Language. So if you sign feel free to greet us in sign language.
